MClimate has introduced a new device offering advanced PIR sensing, enabling occupancy-driven heating, cooling, ventilation, and energy optimization. The MClimate PIR mini LoRaWAN® integrates a PIR motion sensor along with temperature and humidity sensors for indoor climate monitoring and optimization, and a LUX sensor for light levels measurement and smart automations.
MClimate specializes in the development of IoT hardware devices and software solutions that prioritize energy efficiency, air quality control, and water loss prevention. We believe that retrofitting buildings with smart technology is the most effective way to decarbonize society. This approach not only cuts carbon emissions but also promotes healthier communities, happier occupants, and simpler facility management. That's why we've developed a new device designed to improve building efficiency and comfort by enabling a wide range of automations based on motion detection alongside temperature, humidity and ambient light sensing.
The MClimate PIR mini LoRaWAN® is a compact multi-sensor device designed to enhance indoor environments through occupancy-based optimization. Combining a high-performance PIR sensor with an 8-meter detection range and wide 120° vertical and horizontal fields of view, along with integrated temperature, humidity, and LUX sensors, it delivers precise real-time data for efficient indoor climate and lighting monitoring and control. This enables a wide range of automations, including occupancy-driven heating, cooling and ventilation, and smart lighting control, ensuring both energy savings and occupant comfort.
The PIR sensor delivers reliable motion detection with an extended range of up to 8 meters and a wide 120° field of view, both horizontally and vertically, enabling responsive, demand-driven building operations. In addition to detecting motion, this smart device can also count movements, enabling the optimization of space usage, saving energy, and supporting informed business decisions. The PIR mini can be strategically installed at entrances, exits, corridors, and high-traffic zones to monitor occupancy and optimize operations accordingly.
To support flexible installation across a wide range of environments, the PIR mini LoRaWAN® is complemented by two optional accessories. A corner mount positions the device at a 45° angle to maximize its field of view and motion detection coverage, while five interchangeable lens covers enable the detection pattern to be tailored to any environment, from focused monitoring zones to full-room occupancy detection, helping reduce false triggers and improve detection accuracy.
The integrated LUX sensor measures ambient light levels. When used in combination with compatible devices such as the MClimate 16A Switch and Power Meter LoRaWAN®, it allows the implementation of smart lighting control. That way, the device can help lights turn on only when a space is occupied and light is insufficient, while dimming or switching off lighting when light is sufficiently available. The combination of PIR and LUX sensing helps improve energy efficiency by preventing unnecessary lighting in unoccupied spaces and adapting light levels when presence is detected, enhancing occupant safety and comfort.
Leveraging ultra-low-power LoRaWAN® technology, the device is designed for long-term operation of up to 15 years under default configuration settings while powered by just two AA batteries. It integrates seamlessly into LoRaWAN-compatible ecosystems, including Building Management Systems (BMS). Operating on LoRaWAN Class A, the PIR mini ensures reliable communication, while support for Firmware Updates Over The Air (FUOTA) enables scalable and efficient device management over time.
“The PIR mini marks the beginning of our new mini-series of high-impact devices for advanced energy efficiency. It empowers building owners to implement demand-driven heating, cooling, ventilation, and smart lighting, enhancing occupant comfort and safety while significantly optimizing energy use,” declared Lyubomir Yanchev, Founder and CEO at MClimate.
