Challenges
Hotel Schwertfirm is a modern, family-run hotel in Karlsfeld, at the gates of Dachau and in the north of Munich. Official partner of TSV 1860 Munich the hotel is located away from the hustle of the big city, offering a lot of tranquillity and relaxation options while still allowing quick routes to Munich's city center and to the numerous sights and event locations in the area. With energy costs soaring across Germany, heating the hotel has become a significant expense that requires careful management. In order to achieve this, they had to optimize heating times and regulate temperatures in a manner that ensures they continue to provide excellent service while minimizing energy waste. The Hotel Schwertfirm was searching for a solution to the challenge and decided to digitize its energy management system by collaborating with Betterspace to integrate the smart energy system better.energy and installing Vicki LoRaWAN® Smart Radiator Thermostats.

Solution
To address the issue and remain at the forefront of innovation in the hotel industry, they've partnered with Betterspace to install the better.energy, smart software, and integrating 142 Vicki LoRaWAN® Smart Radiator Thermostats into their hotel rooms. By installing the MClimate Smart Radiator Thermostats, they were able to regulate room temperature based on occupancy, thereby preventing heating when the rooms are unoccupied. Due to Vicki's high compatibility with existing radiators, the installation process was quick and straightforward, eliminating the need for hiring professionals for the installation or laying of cables. Once in place, the devices monitored temperature, and humidity, and allowed temperature control to be set individually according to the needs of each room. This, along with schedule settings and applied temperature limits on the devices, target results in up to a 35% reduction in energy consumption. Vicki LoRaWAN® Thermostats utilize minimal energy for data transmission, ensuring extended battery life of up to 10 years, the longest on the market, without the need for maintenance.Â
